New Edition of Bridge Procedures Guide from ICS

WMSI Updates

The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) has published a new edition of its Bridge Procedures Guide, which offers guidance to ship operators on best practice for safe navigation.

ICS has updated the guide, since it was last published in 2007, to include far more information on the use of ECDIS for navigation and training requirements under the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) convention. It highlights the importance of familiarising crew with the use of specific models that are installed on their ships, including comprehensive familiarization checklists seafarers can use to ensure they can operate these systems effectively.

The new edition also addresses the additional emphasis on bridge resource management in STCW training.
