TST/WMSI Dormitory for Seafarers

A Value - Added Service

Tsakos Shipping and Trading SA (TST), in partnership with Wallem Maritime Services, Inc. continues on with its pledge of service to the Filipino seafarer with the formal inauguration and blessing of its Dormitory for seafarers.

Beds Having a total capacity of 58 beds, this Dormitory is located right at the heart of Intramuros, just two blocks away from Wallem Philippines Building. It has a fully functional and completely equipped kitchen adjacent to a similarly spacious mess hall and dining area. It also has six shower stalls and three comfort rooms next to a wash and laundry area.

Proposed during an official visit to Greece, the idea was gladly accepted by TST who have in previous years maintained a similar establishment.

"We want to be able to provide for the needs of our seafarers," says Cristina Oben-Nazareno, Vice President of WMSI. "...we want them to feel that we place their welfare as our top priority, just as TST Greece places paramount importance to the wellbeing of their crew."

Kitchen The Dormitory now houses cadets and ex-crew of Tsakos/Wallem. It is primarily available for those who are residing in the province and are staying here in Manila while training, are scheduled for dispatch, or for urgent reasons, need a secure, clean, comfortable and best of all, free means of lodging.

The simple but solemn event was officiated by Greek Orthodox priests Fr. N. Mellios and Fr. D. Cleofas. TST Representatives Capt. G. Sazaklis, Mrs. Kaliopi Sazaklis and Capt. Dimitrious Gournas also graced the ceremony, together with WMSI President Atty. Rey A. Oben, Vice President Cristina Oben-Nazareno and Special Counsel Justice Harriet Demetriou.
